Job description
Overview

Ipswich School wish to appoint a knowledgeable, passionate and autonomous Tutor of EAL (English as an Additional Language) to our Year 7 – Year 13 overseas boarders, many of whom are from Hong Kong or the PRC. Reporting to the Head of EAL, you will have a current Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages or CELTA qualification and will enjoy working with and encouraging young people, all of whom are hardworking and willing to learn.

Teaching hours currently take place on Mondays and Fridays, as well as on Saturday mornings, during term time only. Ipswich School was rated as ‘Excellent’ in every category in its 2022 ISI Inspection.

Accommodation and additional remuneration may be available if you wish to become involved with our boarding provision. All Teachers are eligible to join a pension scheme with Royal London, with an employer contribution of 15%. The scheme also provides critical illness cover, income protection and death in service cover. Free lunch is provided in the Dining Hall during term time on the days you are at work and staff can use the school’s swimming pool and fitness gym free of charge (in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations). You will have access to Smarthealth, the School’s wellbeing app for staff which offers 24/7 GP access and mental health support. We also offer a Cycle to Work Scheme. If there are pupil vacancies and you have a child or children who are eligible to attend the school who have satisfied the entry criteria as set out in the School’s Admissions Policy, and have been awarded a place, you could be entitled to generous fee remission.
