Qualifications

Job description

Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting experienced 1:1 Tutors in Oldham to deliver high-quality Maths and English tuition to pupils across Early Years, KS1, KS2, KS3, and KS4.

We work closely with Oldham Council to provide face‑to‑face tuition for vulnerable children, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), in community settings across Oldham borough (including Royton, Denshaw, Mossley, and Middleton).

Role Details
  • Location: Community settings across Oldham (local travel required)
  • Hours: Approx. 20 hours per week (flexible between 9 am and 3 pm)
  • Pay: £27–£30 per hour, depending on experience
  • Contract: Ongoing, part‑time, flexible
  • Subjects: Maths and English (tutors must be able to teach both)
  • Start date: ASAP
Requirements
  • Experience tutoring both Maths and English within the UK curriculum (QTS preferred but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
  • Ability to provide two professional references covering at least the last two years (since 2023)
  • Experience working with SEN pupils is desirable
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally across Oldham borough
  • Commitment to delivering patient, empathetic, and engaging tuition tailored to individual needs
Further Information

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the education of vulnerable children. You will work 1:1 with pupils, many with SEN, supporting them to develop confidence and skills in both Maths and English.

You will be expected to create and deliver tailored learning plans, often employing a therapeutic approach to re‑engage students with their learning and help structure their educational routine. Regular progress monitoring via weekly reports will be part of your responsibilities.

Sessions are generally during school hours (9 am–3 pm), with flexibility offered to fit your availability.
