Job description

Gower College Swansea is seeking a Tutor/Assessor to join the Carpentry provision within our expanding Built Environment Learning Area.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and internally verify portfolios to ensure they meet the requirements of the various external verifiers and awarding bodies.
  • Work with customers in industry to maintain and build relationships.
  • Provide a high quality teaching and learning experience for all learners.
Qualifications
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of the industry with a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Carpentry or a related subject.
  • Possess a recognised apprenticeship in carpentry.
  • Ideally hold, or be working towards, a recognised teaching qualification and TAQA/V1 award.
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work flexibly, on your own initiative and as part of a team.

Assessment Qualification Support

If you do not hold an assessing qualification, Gower College Swansea are proud to offer support and guidance to successful candidates to achieve their award/certificate in assessing under the TAQA qualifications framework. If you hold a D32/D33/A1 Assessor award qualification, we would love to hear from you. These are still valid and recognised qualifications, and the college can offer updated training to refresh your assessor qualification.

Additional Information

Appointments will normally be made to the bottom of the salary scale with annual increments on 1st August each year (subject to a start date before 1st February).
