Qualifications

  • Familiarity with OEM standards (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSCS, OSHA, IOSH, NEBOSH) preferred.

Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Turbine Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

What you'll be doing

The Steam Turbine Construction Lead is responsible for overseeing the installation and construction activities of steam turbine systems on major energy or industrial projects. This role ensures that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all steam turbine construction activities on site
  • Supervise subcontractors and craft labour involved in turbine installation
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to project management
  • Resolve technical and construction issues in collaboration with engineering and QA/QC teams
  • Manage logistics and ensure timely delivery of turbine components and tools
  • Conduct inspections and ensure proper alignment, torquing, and commissioning readiness
  • Support commissioning and start‑up teams during mechanical completion and handover
Key Deliverables
  • Deliver Steam Turbine Package Safely, On time and within budget
  • Apply Zero Harm programme to steam turbine activities
  • Apply Right First‑Time programme to steam turbine activities
  • Ensure compliance on build it clean programme within steam turbine activities
  • Embed and collaborative working culture with transparency and speed built in
Who we're looking for
  • Proven experience in steam turbine installation and construction leadership
  • Strong understanding of turbine components, alignment procedures, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with OEM standards (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Relevant engineering or technical qualification (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management)
  • Safety certifications (e.g., CSCS, OSHA,IOSH, NEBOSH) preferred
