Trust Manager - Estate Administration

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Trust Manager to join the successful Estate Administration Department of a well-established and progressive law firm based in Orpington, Kent.

About the Team

The Estate Administration Department specialises in advising private clients on a broad range of matters, including trust administration, wills, probate, and lasting powers of attorney. The team operates with a partner-led approach, promoting a flexible structure that supports junior team members and ensures work is allocated at the appropriate level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of UK trusts, including discretionary, life interest, personal injury, and vulnerable persons trusts
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, and professional advisors
  • Ensuring full compliance with all relevant UK legislation, including HMRC, FATCA, CRS, and TRS
  • Preparing annual trust accounts, tax returns, and related documents in collaboration with tax specialists
  • Overseeing trust distributions, trustee meetings, investment reviews, and compliance checks
  • Providing advice on trust structuring, succession planning, and associated tax implications
  • Keeping up to date with changes in trust law, tax legislation, and best practices
  • Supporting the supervision and development of junior trust officers or administrators
  • Reporting regularly to senior management or partners on portfolio performance and risk matters

Requirements

  • You will likely be a Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive with over 4 years' experience in trust administration or private client services, with a strong understanding of UK trust law, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and income tax as they apply to trusts.
  • You will be professional, positive, client-focused, and an excellent team player.
