Job description
Trust Grade FY3 or CT1-CT2 - CKD Quality Improvement

Closing date: 02 January 2026.

We are seeking an enthusiastic FY3 or CT1-2 grade doctor for a full time 40 hours per week post, over a 6-month fixed term, focusing on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) quality improvement across both Aintree and Royal sites. The role is based on-site and offers a unique opportunity to lead and support system-wide improvements in CKD care.

This opportunity is available for any candidate wishing to pursue a career in Nephrology.

Start date is expected to be February 2026.

Main duties of the job
  • Implement the CKD alert bundle at both Aintree and Royal Liverpool sites.
  • Develop and deliver a CKD care bundle for patients admitted with CKD and unplanned hospital admissions.
  • Contribute to CKD-related QI work across the Integrated Care Board (ICB), including developing an integrated proactive care approach.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to embed improvements in practice.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with QI methodology and its practical application.
  • Collect, analyse, and publish data/findings from the improvement work to share learning locally and nationally.

Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP part 1
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year Foundation year Training or evidence of achievement of competences in medicine.
  • Experience conducting expert, focused physical examinations.
  • Competent level of knowledge of basic science and able to apply this to clinical practice.
  • Potential for understanding and proficiency in performance of certain renal diagnostic and technical procedures.
  • Obtaining medical histories which are precise, logical, thorough and reliable.
  • Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary environment e.g., Renal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, General Medicine, Renal Transplantation.
  • Demonstration of understanding and proficiency in the performance of certain medical diagnostic and technical procedures.
  • Evidence of participation and completion of a Quality Improvement project in the last 18 months.
