A local council in the UK seeks a Tree Officer to provide expert arboricultural advice. The successful candidate will manage applications for works to protected trees, prepare Tree Preservation Orders, and advise on development proposals. You’ll work within a supportive team, contributing to impactful environmental initiatives. Ideal candidates will hold a Higher National Diploma in Arboriculture and have significant experience with tree-related legislation.
37 hours per week, Permanent Contract
£35,412 - £39,152 per annum (plus Essential Car User Allowance)
We are seeking a highly motivated Tree Officer to provide arboricultural advice within the planning service where you will administer Tree Preservation Orders, determine applications for works to protected trees, and advise on development proposals affecting trees. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on our natural environment.
You will work primarily in the Wychavon area, and will be responsible for:
You’ll be part of a dynamic multi‑disciplinary team that sits within the Planning service and includes landscape ecologists, project officers, heritage and archaeology specialists, and urban designers—working together to shape sustainable, resilient places.
To be successful you will have a minimum Higher National Diploma in Arboriculture (level 5) or equivalent, significant professional experience and a thorough understanding of tree and planning‑related legislation. You’ll have sound judgement, will be confident conducting site visits and working independently, and will provide clear professional advice to a range of colleagues and stakeholders.
