Job description

As a Junior Transport Planning Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting the Transport Planning team on a daily basis. You'll learn how to prepare technical drawings, modeling, and provide information that will help bring development projects to life. You'll be involved in a wide range of projects including Residential and Mixed Use Developments, Commercial Development, Urban Regeneration and Highway Improvements.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Producing and updating technical drawings, plans, and modeling using industry‑standard software (full training provided).
  • Assisting the Transport Planning team with the preparation of technical documents and calculations.
  • Supporting the development of designs for highway access and highway improvements as well as supporting the development of strategies for sustainable transport.
  • Helping with the coordination of Transport Planning information between engineering, environmental, and design teams.
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and meets project and quality standards.
  • Learning how to engage with clients, local authorities, and internal project teams as your experience grows.
  • You must be currently located in Ashford.
  • No industry experience is required – we’re looking for enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to learn.
Ideally, You Will Bring
  • A keen interest in Transport Planning, infrastructure, design, or the built environment.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy in the MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • A willingness to learn technical software such as Junctions11 and AutoCAD, plus other tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • GCSEs, A‑levels, BTEC, or equivalent – we welcome a variety of educational backgrounds.
  • A proactive approach and a desire to grow your career within a supportive team.
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Confident to liaise with all levels of management both internally and externally.
  • Work well within a team.
