Shift Details
Afternoons 2pm - 11pm.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Take responsibility for timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure first‑class service cost‑effectively.
- Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to cost and quality standards.
- Plan ahead: tasks and resources.
- Liaise with internal/external customers to resolve problems.
- Collect, analyse and distribute information/data.
- Provide professional/specialist advice internally and externally.
- Develop relationships with external customers.
- Specify and ensure support service levels are in place.
- Prioritise and coordinate workloads.
- Complete tasks to time and quality standards.
- Work within budgets with no customer complaints.
- Build successful working partnerships with customers, internal and external.
- Deliver timely advice and achieve respect of others for competence.
- Practice safe working procedures.
- Work with customers/suppliers/drivers and traffic desks to plan routes and schedule deliveries ensuring smooth operation.
- Prioritise workload, route planning, driver brief and de‑brief.
- Liaise with other depots; driver communication and monitoring.
- Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads.
- Proactively reduce late deliveries and missed time slots.
- Work flexibly and make quick decisions.
- Excellent communication skills; deal with people at all levels.
- Maintain computerised system Stirling; use Excel spreadsheets.
- Understand transport regulations currently in force.
- Good geographical knowledge.
- Book driver agency staff depending on workload.
- Monitor compliance; work with drivers and compliance to eliminate infringements.
- Ensure drivers aware of SAFED and improve SAFED achievements to goals.
- Responsible for employee health and safety.
- Ensure vehicles and trailers available timely to meet compliance and inspection requirements.
- Provide general support to management when required.
Specific Qualifications / Job Training
- Experience of working at a similar level.
- CPC holder desirable (National) but not essential.
- Job specific qualification preferred.
- Specific Experience.
- Traffic Management.
- Dealing with VOSA Compliance.
- Problem solving / logical thinking.
- Working unsupervised, managing time and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines.
Skills
- Computer skills: Stirling (desirable), Excel.
- Good communication skills; interaction at all levels internal and external.
- Geographical knowledge.
- Team player with flexible 'Can Do' attitude.
