A local government authority in England is seeking a passionate individual for a position in sustainable transport planning. The role focuses on reviewing planning applications, delivering projects, and collaborating with various teams. Ideal candidates will have relevant experience or knowledge in transport planning, strong communication skills, and a commitment to sustainability. A hybrid working model offers flexibility between home and office environments.
You’ll join a friendly, forward-thinking team at an exciting time as we shape a bold new vision for transport in Dorset. You’ll help drive our ambitions to cut carbon emissions from transport to net zero by 2050 and support sustainable development across the county.
Based in beautiful rural Dorset, close to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, you’ll benefit from Dorset Council’s wide range of training and support, along with our hybrid working approach that offers a flexible mix of home and office working.
You’ll work in our Transport Planning strategic and policy sub-team, playing a key role in reviewing planning applications and pre-planning enquiries to secure the infrastructure and contributions needed to meet our sustainable transport aims. As a main point of contact, you’ll support the Transport Development Management team, collaborate with the Planning Team and other partners, and provide clear policy advice on major developments.
You’ll also help deliver transport studies, prepare plans and write bids to secure funding for sustainable transport schemes. This involves working closely with both internal and external partners to deliver projects on time and to budget.
