Where will you be working?

Royal Den Hartogh Logistics is a leading logistics service provider for the chemical, gas, polymer, and food industries. Founded in 1920 in the Netherlands, our family-owned company strongly focuses on safety and sustainability. Together with our customers and suppliers, we develop smart logistics solutions that contribute to a more efficient supply chain. We operate worldwide with 54 locations in 27 countries. Our team consists of over 2,600 employees, and we manage a modern fleet of 25,000 tank containers, 5,000 dry bulk containers and trailers, 575 tank trailers, and nearly 900 trucks.

The Role

We’re looking for a motivated and driven Transport Planner to join our Team in Immingham. In this role you will be responsible for the effective and efficient planning and deployment of Den Hartogh’s fleet and driver resources, ensuring safe, timely and cost-effective transport execution.

You will be a key communicator between multiple stakeholders, building and maintaining strong relationships with drivers, internal teams and external suppliers to ensure excellent operational performance.

Your responsibilities will be:
  • Plan, schedule and oversee daily transport operations, including trailers, drivers and intermodal movements, to meet customer and service-level requirements
  • Monitor operations in real time, acting as the first point of contact and proactively resolving issues to maintain service continuity
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and internal stakeholders, ensuring accurate, timely delivery of trip and operational information
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, including ADR, Working Time Directive and driver hours regulations
  • Manage operational costs and assets by tracking exceptions (e.g. wasted trips, demurrage), repositioning equipment and ensuring maintenance readiness
  • Maintain accurate planning data within the Transport Management System (TMS) and use dashboards and planning tools to drive KPI performance
Successful candidates will have:
  • CPC qualification (or willingness to obtain) with a good understanding of commercial vehicle operation and safety
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements, ideally within regulated logistics environments such as chemicals, gases or bulk transport
  • Experience in transport coordination or administration, including planning and route optimisation
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to act quickly in response to operational issues
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills, able to engage effectively with drivers, management and customers while working independently
  • Confident IT user with experience of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn Transport Management and compliance systems
  • Exposure to audits, safety inspections or incident investigations would be advantageous
What we offer:

At Den Hartogh Logistics, we believe people are our greatest strength. When you join our team, you can expect:

  • A culture built on trust, ownership, and responsibility, where your contributions truly matter.
  • A dynamic and innovative work environment, with operational excellence, continuous improvement, and teamwork at its core.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and personal development, supported by tailored training programmes.
  • A competitive benefits package, including:
    • Excellent pension and life assurance schemes
    • 25 days annual holiday, plus opportunity to purchase additional days
    • Cycle-to-work scheme
    • Access to our Benefit Hub for exclusive perks and discounts
    • Comprehensive Help@Hand support and Employee Assistance Programme
  • A workplace that values ambition, innovation, and collaboration – while never losing sight of the importance of enjoying what we do.
