The Role

We’re looking for a driven Transport Planner who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment to join our UK and Ireland Operations Team. You’ll bring resilience, confidence in your abilities, and a genuine passion for logistics.

You will be responsible for planning all operational activities within your area of control on time and in the most cost effective manner, building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders to ensure excellent operational performance.

Your responsibilities will be:
  • Plan all operational activities within area of control to meet customer requirements in full.
  • Ensure planning is carried out in the most efficient and cost effective way to achieve optimum margin potential.
  • Ensure all necessary operational arrangements are in place for trial loads and sensitive requirements and that all operational issues are dealt with appropriately.
  • Highlight all fluctuations in volume well in advance in order for them to be managed accordingly.
  • Monitor payloads to ensure targets are being met.
  • Understand haulier earning requirements to ensure mutual productivity.
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all legislation that is relevant to the transport industry and work in accordance with this.
Successful candidates will have:
  • Prior experience in road haulage planning is essential
  • CPC certificate (or willingness to work towards)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • Understand and demonstrate a safety culture with a high sense of responsibility, to achieve operational excellence
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members, drivers and stakeholders.
  • Able to plan and organise work in a structured way whilst being able to adapt to ever changing scenarios
  • Strong team player with ability to work on own initiative
  • Strong problem‑solving skills to identify issues, propose solutions and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management systems, database software and Microsoft Office suite to support administrative tasks and data analysis.
  • Financial acumen
