Overview

We\'re seeking a Transport office clerk to work with our prestigious client in Thorne. You\'ll play a vital role in coordinating and running a transport with drivers & customers, ensuring service excellence from start to finish. If you have experience in a similar role and are looking for long-term development with the potential for a permanent contract, this is your opportunity.

The role is Monday to Friday (Apply online only) with a pay rate of £12.78.

We have 1 x temp to perm & 1 x Temp role (transport experience is preferred but not essential).

Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support:
    • Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, driver hours, and delivery schedules.
    • Prepare transport documents, including delivery notes, manifests, and invoices.
    • Input and update data into transport management systems (TMS) and spreadsheets.
  • Driver and Vehicle Coordination:
    • Assist with daily vehicle dispatch and return checks.
    • Ensure drivers receive correct route details, schedules, and documentation.
    • Record and report any delays, vehicle issues, or discrepancies.
  • Communication:
    • Act as a point of contact for drivers, warehouse staff, and customers regarding transport matters.
    • Relay instructions and updates between drivers and the transport office.
    • Handle customer inquiries related to deliveries or collections.
  • Compliance and Record-Keeping:
    • Ensure all transport operations comply with company policies and legal regulations (e.g., vehicle inspections, tachograph data).
    • File and archive paperwork related to transportation operations.
    • Assist in preparing reports and audits for management.
  • General Office Duties:
    • Answer phones and respond to emails within the transport department.
    • Order and manage office and transport-related supplies.
    • Support the transport manager and team with other clerical tasks as required.
