Job Title: Transport Manager
Salary: Up to £45k base salary + Comp
Location: Skelmersdale

Role Summary

The Transport Manager will be a CPC‑qualified transport professional responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of a small fleet based in Skelmersdale. The role will focus on maximising driver and fleet performance, driving logistics efficiencies and identifying continuous improvement opportunities across transport operations. While transport and logistics will remain the core focus of the role, there may be occasions where the post holder is required to support mill production planning during periods of ASH cover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fleet Operations & Compliance: Manage daily fleet operations, ensuring adherence to Operator Licence requirements, driver hours regulations and company policies.
  • Driver Management & Performance: Supervise, support and develop drivers, monitoring tachograph data and implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Vehicle & Route Management: Oversee vehicle maintenance, defect reporting and route/load optimisation to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement & Collaboration: Maintain transport records, track KPIs, promote health and safety and work with cross‑functional teams to enhance logistics performance.
Key Experience
  • CPC qualification (National or International) is essential.

  • Strong working knowledge of UK transport legislation and Operator Licence compliance.
  • Experience managing drivers within a small fleet operation.
