Our client is a leading logistics organisation.

Job Description

A key leadership position within a fast paced and complex logistics operation. Based at our client's operation in Kent you will be required to demonstrate a leadership approach that promotes a high performing and inclusive culture, whilst also meeting legal, KPI and budgetary targets. Key responsibilities of the Transport Manager will include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day people management for direct reports.
  • Oversee Transport/Fleet/MHE compliance.
  • Support in sharing best compliance practice across the network and site.
  • Manage the on-site trade union relationship.
  • Support widescale Transport change projects to support design and implementation.
  • Work closely with the Head of Transport and Central Planning Team to identify opportunities for further transport optimisation, understanding the balance between service and cost.
  • Ensure that the customer is at the centre of every decision-making process.
  • Operate within legislation, policy and process in all matters ranging from people management to HSE.
  • Remain up-to-date with and understand existing Transport and Fleet legislative requirements and review processes to support operational adherence.


The Successful Applicant

The successful Transport Manager will live within commuting distance of our client's operation in Kent and will be able to demonstrate the following experience:

  • Strong Transport/Fleet/MHE knowledge and leadership experience within a similar role.
  • Previous experience of leading within a unionised logistics operation.
  • The ability to lead, engage and inspire others in order to deliver successful results.
  • Take a positive approach to successfully leading change.
  • Be able to manage and maintain strong collaborative working relationships and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders across a variety of levels.
  • Sound knowledge of transport and fleet systems i.e. transport scheduling tools, tachomaster, fleet systems.
  • CPC qualification preferred.
