Job description

This role is in the Transformation Engineering Team within the COO TOS function. The role will contribute to delivering City strategies, identifying network optimization opportunities, pipeline generation, assessment and delivery, network design, migration cost modulation, network data discovery, analytics and visualization for all network domains in the Colt network. It will engage in developing and executing core network build and transformation projects such as city strategies, Network and Node programmes, and Network Life Cycle. The position requires driving core network transformation, technical planning, detailed preparation, job packs and coordination of technology and preparation of designs for service migrations between network sites. It also manages relationships with supporting teams such as Product, Network Architecture, Engineering, Sales, Accounts and Operations for workload and resource planning in support of network transformation projects.

What you will do
  • Data discovery, analysis and visualization with respect to network planning of transformation programs having multi‑technology and multi‑era telecommunication platforms, aligned with Colt Engineering guidelines and governance.
  • Drive city‑strategy discussions, negotiate agreements and follow‑through on identified opportunities in preparation of business cases, setting financial justification and obtaining approval from key stakeholders.
  • Network analytics, technical design and implementation for network transformation programs such as the Node Programme, Network Life Cycle, EoL and migrations.
  • Deliver network discovery and service analytics methods and database, aligned with network life‑cycle management for long‑term network strategy.
  • Deliver business‑case supporting documentation such as BOMs and MOPs.
  • Provide regular delivery progress reporting as per project and programme requirements.
  • Drive the development of migration approaches aligned to technologies and specific network sites.
  • Produce planned and updated project and summary reports, including cost breakdowns and summaries.
  • Manage workflows for technical migration planning and execution of migration activities, covering network infrastructure and customer‑service migrations.

  • Plan network transformation in alignment with operational requirements of Colt internal and external network needs.

Must haves
  • Experience in a telco service‑provider environment, driving transformation strategies, planning, configuring and documenting network transformations.
  • Keen budget awareness and proposal capability.
  • Understanding of analysing city networks, identifying OPEX‑saving opportunities, and creating a pipeline for execution teams.
  • Capability to build a BOM for various vendors based on network analysis.
  • Demonstrated network analysis with respect to BOM buildup on network (WDM: Ciena / Infinera / ADVA / Nokia), Ethernet, IP (Cisco / Ciena / Nokia / Juniper), Voice (DMS, EWSD).
  • Exposure to node/site planning for telco infrastructure.
  • Experience writing business cases and preparing cost calculations for large transformation projects such as node exits and city strategies.
  • Innovative and motivated – ability to think “out of the box”.
  • Conversant with project‑management methods, tools and performance measures.
  • Knowledge of the key technologies and architectures deployed in the Colt network (Infinera LDN, NSN MSP, MMSP, IP, etc.).
  • Proficient in MS‑Excel and Visio.
  • Added advantage if hands‑on VBA, Power BI, Python, Qlik, etc.
  • Experience in planning and implementing large‑scale network transformation programmes.
Might have
  • Knowledge of Colt’s internal processes and systems used for change management, delivery and network inventory management.
  • Good data‑analysis skills.
