Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Physical Readiness: you’ll need to be physically fit, meeting the Police Job Related Fitness Test requirements.
  • Driving Licence: a full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Trainer: ideally you’ll hold a Level 2 or higher physical training qualification and a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
  • Proven Track Record: previous experience in training design and delivery, particularly in personal safety, method of entry, health and safety or first aid.
  • Integrity and Courage: you’re not afraid to challenge inappropriate behaviour and uphold the highest standards of conduct.
  • Innovative Thinker: knowledge of learning and development best practices, including blended training approaches and quality assurance.
  • Recent Operational Experience: direct experience in the relevant training areas will be a significant advantage.
Important Information

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role. This will include a full background and financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successful medical checks which may include a drug test and, if required, a fitness test. All candidates who pass the hiring manager sift (prior to their interview) will be required to complete a Police Job Related Fitness Test to Level 6 : 3 (multi‑stage 15 metre bleep test).

Hours and Location: Working hours are Monday to Friday 0800‑1600hrs – flexibility considered if the pattern sufficiently supports organisational need. The role is based in Tally Ho, although training delivery also takes place at the following venues: Tipton Police Station, Aldridge Police Station, Digbeth Police Station, Chelmsley Wood Police Station, Willenhall Police Station (Coventry). We work 1 in 8 weekends (16‑week pattern).
