Overview

Marbel Talent Group are seeking a Trainee Estimator who is eager to learn and develop within a successful estimating team. In this role, you will support the delivery of major electrical construction projects from our client's head office in Fareham.

You will assist the team in achieving both operational and financial goals while gaining hands-on experience throughout the project lifecycle. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation in estimating and contribute to maintaining the high standards expected by our clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost estimates for electrical projects, including labour, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Support the review of drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project scope.
• Help liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing information and learn about rate negotiation.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure estimates align with technical and project requirements.
• Begin to identify potential risks, cost savings, and value engineering opportunities under the guidance of senior team members.
• Contribute to tender submissions and support the smooth handover of information to project delivery teams.

Skills & Experience

• Some experience or a strong interest in estimating within the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) industry.
• Basic understanding of M&E systems, construction methods, and industry standards is beneficial.
• Ability to learn how to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to assist in supplier and subcontractor negotiations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
