Job summary

Trainee Enhanced Clinical Practitioner

An exciting opportunity to start your advanced practice journey in a team of experienced practitioners working in the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

We are seeking individuals who are keen to train to become clinical practitioners in a progressive and exciting environment, learning to manage a diverse patient group presenting with urgent illness and injury to the ED and UC.

You will be given fully funded training, dedicated supernumerary time, weekly training sessions in addition to your university courses, a dedicated educational supervisor and portfolio. Once you have qualified academically you will have a 1‑year preceptorship with full support. We will help the successful candidate to develop a holistic knowledge and skill set for practitioners working within the urgent care environment. At this point, uplift to band 7 will be completed.

Main duties of the job

To undertake a set training and competency‑based pathway with supervision and support, working towards autonomously undertaking assessment of a diverse range of patient presentations in all ages to the Emergency Department and Urgent Care to determine clinical diagnosis, provide treatment and plan appropriate onward care. The predominant patient cohort will consist of minor injury and illness presentations.

You will be a part of the wider urgent care team of ECPs (nursing/physio/paramedic) supporting nursing and health care assistants and working alongside medical and general practitioner colleagues.
