Rail Planner

Location: Ferrybridge Operations Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rail Planner to join a busy rail operations and planning team based at the Ferrybridge Operations Centre. This role plays a key part in delivering safe, efficient, and commercially effective train plans in line with industry standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planning workloads efficiently and effectively in compliance with Network Code and wider industry planning processes
  • Work collaboratively within the planning team to ensure the weekly train plan is delivered accurately and on time
  • Liaise with relevant industry stakeholders and contacts as required
  • Produce train plans that maximise operational efficiency and profitability while meeting customer and service requirements
  • Ensure all plans and diagrams are compliant with internal standards and industry criteria
Skills & Experience Required
  • Good knowledge of freight train operations and a sound understanding of railway geography
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to produce clear and compliant operational diagrams for frontline staff
  • Good IT skills, including experience with:
    • Voyagerplan (or similar train planning software)
    • TOPS / TRUST
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
