Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar operational role or busy manual handling type of experience.
  • Good IT skills (word processing, spreadsheets).

Responsibilities

  • Control access to waste collection authority and commercial vehicles.
  • Issue instructions to drivers entering and leaving site.
  • Assist the leadership and MRF teams.
  • Housekeeping and light maintenance of tipping halls.
  • Provide cover during breaks for traffic control roles.
  • Complete daily site inspections.
  • Conduct the daily site fire watch before closure.

£24,661.32 plus Veolia benefits

Brighton Material Recovery Facility, BN1 7BB

Hours

Average 37.33 pw – Seasonal rota/shift system including evenings, bank holidays & weekends. Shift patterns: Winter (Oct‑Mar): AM x 4, Rest x 2, PM x 4, Rest x 2 – 06:15‑14:45 / PM 09:30‑18:00. Summer (Apr‑Sep): AM x 4, Rest x 2, PM x 4, Rest x 2 – 06:15‑14:45 / PM 13:30‑22:00.

What will you be doing
  • Safely controlling Veolia, third‑party waste collection authority and commercial vehicles access into and out of both tipping hall areas on site
  • Issue instructions to drivers of vehicles entering and leaving site / tipping halls
  • Provide support to the leadership team, MRF team and WTS team
  • Housekeeping and light maintenance (cleaning, litter picking, painting, etc.) of the tipping halls and external areas
  • Provide cover during breaks to assist traffic control, weighbridge and mobile plant roles (training provided)
  • Complete daily site inspections and report defects/issues as required
  • Complete the daily site fire watch before site closure each day
What are we looking for
  • Previous experience in a similar operational role or busy manual handling type of experience
  • Good IT skills (word processing, spreadsheets)
Desirable
  • Experience operating mobile plant (loading shovels, excavators, forklifts)
  • Weighbridge experience
