A leading racing team in the United Kingdom is seeking a Trackside IT Infrastructure Engineer to provide up to 3rd line support for trackside racing users and ensure stable operations of essential hardware and software during race weekends. The role includes setting up trackside networks, collaborating with teams, and supporting events throughout the race calendar. Candidates should have extensive IT support experience and technical skills across various areas, including networking and server management. The Trackside IT Infrastructure Engineer role is to provide support up to and including 3rd line to trackside Racing users, Mission Control user, and to setup the trackside network and infrastructure for a race weekend. There will be requirements to travel and support test and race events throughout the race calendar, as well as supporting race weekends from Mission Control.
You will support and ensure the stable operation of the Trackside hardware and software required for a race or test event including server, storage, workstation and networking. During the off season, the role will involve implementing any infrastructure and/or network upgrade and refresh requirements.
The role will require close collaboration with colleagues in Racing, IT, and the wider businesses. The ability to work with project managers and architects in delivering service improvements. There will be requirements to work with external suppliers and partners.
The role covers assisting with the design and installation of various types of server, storage, software, voice and communication links at Track. The role requires weekend working and time shifting to fit around Race/Test Events, along with travelling with the team to set up and support the race events.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.
