Job description

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate S&C design throughout design and construction technical life cycles, working with design, construction teams, S&C supplier, and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with client standards including CDM regulations.
• Responsible for S&C design delivery for high-speed track contract, including integration of PW, TW/temporary stages, assurance, and delivery of associated digital deliverables in line with programme, cost and client requirements; coordination with CMS, other rail system elements and civil works designs.
• Coordinate designers and supply chain inputs to achieve efficient and compliant S&C design; close liaison with Designer to ensure on‑time delivery optimized and in accordance with client requirements; contribute to interface management.
• Attend weekly meetings with construction team, broader design team and client in Birmingham and/or London; chair S&C design related issue meetings during design and construction and provide technical mitigation support.
• Support client in identifying change, risk and opportunities, constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
• Aid in study of optimization and liaison with commercial, planning, design delivery teams and designers; support link and coordination with construction teams for management of S&C related issues.
• Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.) and close out S&C issues within area of responsibility in a timely manner.
• Review monitoring reports and certificates; support progressive technical assurance during design, construction and handover process.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Chartered IMEC, PWAy Institute or CEng ICE desirable.
• Experience relevant to S&C on major construction projects, including design, modeling, or construction support.
• Sound understanding of rail design codes for S&C.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities.
• Experience managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors.
• Very good communication skills.
