The MBBS programme is arranged across three modules: Integrated and Applied Science and Clinical Medicine, Medicine & Society and Clinical and Professional Practice. In Phase I of the MBBS (Years 1 and 2) applied science is integrated with understanding Medicine and Society, and Professionalism in all aspects of work, including clinical learning and placements in community and primary care; while Phase 2 (Years 3-5) incorporates placements in all settings (primary, community and secondary care), as students deepen and apply their knowledge.
The St Mary's University School of Medicine (SoM), opening in 2026, aims to become an internationally recognised School of Medicine focussed on values- led medical education, where students will graduate with a deep sense of social purpose and a commitment to addressing inequalities.
