Job summary

A leading costume rental service in Northern Ireland is hiring a Theatrical Costume, Vintage, and Millinery Hire Assistant. In this role, you'll help sort, photograph, and manage theatrical costumes for hire. Responsibilities include cataloguing hire items, contributing to social media promotions, and handling bookings. Candidates should have a good standard of education, proficient English skills, and ideally experience in costuming or performing arts. This position offers up to 25 flexible hours per week.

Theatrical Costume, Vintage and Millinery Hire Assistant

THE EMPLOYER IS: THE COSTUME CORNER LTD. Work in the costume store assisting with sorting, ordering, sizing, and photographing theatrical costumes and vintage eveningwear for hire websites. Support the photography and creation of online listings for headpieces, fascinators, and hats in the Millinery studio. Contribute to social media content to promote all aspects of the business. Handle phone and online enquiries, manage bookings, and assist with in-person appointments. Help maintain, tailor, list, pack, dispatch, and process returns of hire items, along with other administrative and general duties as required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the cataloguing, sizing and effective storage of hire items.
  • Learn about the eras and styles of our costume and vintage pieces to fulfil customer hire orders based on the measurements & requirements provided.
  • Help to care for hire pieces by identifying & carrying out ongoing maintenance.
  • Merchandising - maintain and tailor the studio space by season or event type.
  • Help with alterations and learn to apply trimmings to tailor millinery pieces to clients’ specific colour palette or styling requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Punctual with a positive outlook & the ability to work to deadlines when required.
  • Confidence to work as part of a team yet able to work independently on tasks as required.
  • Ability to follow instructions given and complete tasks in a timely, efficient way to the best of your abilities.
  • A good standard of education to include good written and spoken English, strong numeracy skills.
  • Computer literate ideally with a working knowledge of Microsoft.
  • Aware of the various social media platforms and their promotional opportunities.
  • Please note this post is physically demanding as applicant will be required to be able to help move and store costumes and accessories as needed.
  • Previous costuming experience would be useful.
  • Knowledge or an interest in performing arts specifically Theatrical Shows.
  • Millinery experience, qualifications or an interest would be beneficial.
  • Experience or an interest in product photography and set up.
  • Knowledge of updating Website content and product listings.
  • Knowledge of or experience creating effective social media content for promotions.
  • Experience of alterations would be useful.
