Overview

As a Healthcare Support Worker at Torbay Hospital, you'll help patients during their stay with us by making sure they get the quality care & support they deserve. You will support the Day Surgery Unit teams to deliver safe and high-quality care to all our patients, being adaptable and responsive in order to provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual. We provide a variety of care pathways in Day Surgery meaning there are plenty of learning opportunities and further training!

Main duties

Working as part of a team to ensure a safe pathway for the patient during their perioperative pathway including preparing theatre, organising kit and supporting the patient.

• escort patients from the waiting room to theatres
• ensure kit is ready and available as required by the scrub nurse and surgeon
• accurately maintain records as required
• ensure the theatre is clean, tidy and fit for purpose
