Overview

About Global Marine Group: Is a leading independent provider of subsea fibre optic connectivity solutions offering a broad range of services including consultancy, subsea cable engineering, installation and maintenance, covering the lifespan of a subsea fibre optic cable system which is delivered to customers worldwide.

Purpose: Working as part of a team of Project Managers within the Telecoms Business Unit you will support the delivery of Global Marines maintenance and installation services.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance: Manage cable repairs and other operations under GMSLs Maintenance contracts within agreed commercial and operational KPIs. Collate and keep up to date relevant contractual and system-specific information, as well as vessel utilisation and performance data for internal and external reporting. From time to time, support the Maintenance Agreement Manager with other tasks required for the delivery of all Global Marines deliverables under the Maintenance contracts.
  • Installation: Support the Head of Project Delivery in the delivery of installation projects. Operate within established project management procedures to ensure contracted work is completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Tasks may include management of sub-contractors, internal scopes and/or Customer management. Manage, control and monitor specific scopes through initiation, planning, execution and close out stages. Be instrumental in the commercial and technical execution of the project.
  • Key Deliverables include: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, manage repair operations within KPIs, deliver timely reporting, liaise with Global Marine Group departments for resources, point of contact for maintenance customers, maintain technical understanding of facilities and services, carry out repair risk assessments, identify and mitigate risks, support administrative and billing deliverables, assist depot activities, support sales for Outside Work proposals, and contribute to continuous improvement in quality of delivery and efficiency.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • A degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business or a related field that demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities or in-depth knowledge of the marine engineering industry, encompassing telecoms, power, Oil and Gas or Offshore Renewables.
  • Experience or familiarity with subsea cable maintenance or installation.
  • Results-oriented with a desire to improve continuous performance.
  • Proven experience working within a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience combining project management, survey, and installation/maintenance operations.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including ability to communicate and negotiate with a wide range of people and organisations, and awareness of international cultural differences.
  • Relevant degree or education consistent with good analytical capability.
  • Good computer/Microsoft Office skills, including working with technical and commercial spreadsheets.
  • The ability to travel frequently, and at short notice.
Ideal
  • Familiarity with data management, and chart and data requirements in the submarine telecoms industry.
  • Experience of contract management and knowledge of customer service.
  • A willingness to drive through new ways of working.
  • Be conversant with Microsoft Project.
Location

This role can be based in the Chelmsford office and follows a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote each week. For the right candidate based further afield, remote working arrangements with agreed and regular visits for office attendance and site visits can be offered.
