Job description
Overview

You will be required to manage and lead a Team of Salon Operators who carry out a technician type role within the Hair and Beauty curriculum areas. The Salon Operators have responsibility for the Hair and Beauty reception areas and training salons which offer services to the public to support development of student skills to enable them to achieve their qualification.

You will also have overall responsibility for day to day operations and safety within the specialist areas in the Service Industries Department to include the Hair and Beauty Salons, Kitchens and Restaurants, Floristry workshop, Cabin Crew learning area and Outdoor Pursuits storeroom.

You will also carry out some shifts managing the hair and beauty reception, booking in clients and taking payments for a set working pattern per week as agreed with your Line Manager which will be included within this role.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, but could include an evening and / or a Saturday to support the operational need of the specialist areas and / or student recruitment events.

The specialist resources and staff are based across two sites and therefore you will be required to travel between sites to carry out the role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a Team of Salon Operators within Hair and Beauty curriculum areas.
  • Oversee Hair and Beauty reception areas and training salons providing services to the public to support student skill development for qualification achievement.
  • Take overall responsibility for day-to-day operations and safety within the Service Industries Department specialist areas (Hair and Beauty Salons, Kitchens and Restaurants, Floristry workshop, Cabin Crew learning area and Outdoor Pursuits storeroom).
  • Carry out shifts managing the hair and beauty reception, booking in clients and processing payments for a set weekly pattern agreed with the Line Manager.
  • Work Monday to Friday with possible evening and/or Saturday hours to support operations or student recruitment events.
  • Travel between two sites to carry out the role due to the distribution of specialist resources and staff.
