Job description

As a Technician within the Infrastructure Planning Team of the Environment and Transport Department, you will support the Flood Risk Management function and help deliver the Council's role as statutory consultee in the planning process. Your work will also contribute to the Lead Local Flood Authority, the Flood Risk Management Capital Programme and Leicestershire's Local Flood Risk Management Strategy.

  • Investigate flooding incidents and produce statutory reports in accordance with the Flood and Water Management Act.
  • Asses applications for consent under the Land Drainage Act, including carrying out site visits and meetings with residents, contractors, developers and land owners.
  • Support the delivery of the Flood Risk Management Capital Programme and other local flood risk initiatives.
  • Manage your own workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes.
    To be successful in this role you will have:
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent such as BTEC Civil Engineering) in a related subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in Flood Risk Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work to tight timescales and agreed targets.
  • A full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle; travel across the county as required.
