Overview

Role: Technician / Tool Service Technician

Location: Near Coleshill, Birmingham

Salary: c£25,000 neg dep exp + generous benefits + training

Our client has been established for almost 40 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of solutions for supply throughout the world. They are continuing a programme of strategic growth for 2026 and beyond and are looking to recruit an enthusiastic mechanically aware Technician to complement their manufacturing team.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, fault diagnostics and repair of a varied range of tooling.
  • Work as part of a team in a busy workshop; allocate labour and components to repairs using SAP and update tooling databases to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Undertake processing and picking of tool repairs for despatch and perform hand tool calibrations and inspections.
  • Collaborate with the commercial contact to ensure customer requirements are achieved and lead-times are reduced; liaise with relevant departments to maintain excellent communication.
  • Support the department in achieving weekly output hours and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and service.
  • Hours/Shift pattern: rotate fortnightly – Week 1: Mon–Thu 07:30–16:30 with Fri 11:30 finish; Week 2: Mon–Thu 08:00–17:00 and Fri 08:00–14:00.
Qualifications
  • Good GCSEs / A-levels (grade A–C).
  • At least 1 year of experience in repairs with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic exposure in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Confidence in the MS Office suite; knowledge of SAP/ERP is advantageous.
  • Interest in continuous improvement with a meticulous approach to problem solving; able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
