The Opportunity

This pivotal role bridges engineering expertise with commercial growth, managing key accounts, developing new business, and ensuring technical solutions meet exact customer requirements. You will work closely with our design, fabrication, and production teams to prepare accurate quotations, advise on enclosure and bus bar system design, and represent A & T Enclosures to new and existing customers across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and key accounts.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within the switchgear and electrical manufacturing sectors.
  • Provide technical sales support and guidance on enclosure design, materials, and certification (BS EN 61439).
  • Prepare and deliver accurate quotations, tenders, and project proposals.
  • Liaise closely with CAD, engineering, and production teams to ensure projects meet technical and commercial expectations.
  • Attend customer visits, site meetings, and industry events to promote the A & T brand.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform business strategy.
  • Report directly to senior management on sales performance, forecasts, and pipeline development.
About You

We are looking for an individual who combines strong technical expertise with proven sales capability.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in technical sales or business development, ideally within electrical engineering, metal fabrication, or switchgear manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal enclosures, LV switchgear systems, and BS EN 61439 compliance.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to discuss complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • High level of organisation, attention to detail, and self‑motivation.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, CRM software, AutoCAD Inventor & RADAN.
  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems and manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, press brake operation, and powder coating.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience within the switchgear or electrical enclosure industry will be a distinct advantage.
