Calling all aspiring salespeople! Are you an Engineering graduate who loves solving problems, communicating ideas, and seeing your impact? Do you get energized by working with people and building relationships? You might be more suited to a career in technical sales than you think! The Engineering Development Group (EDG) to Sales programme offers a unique blend of technical training and leadership development, equipping you with the skills and experience needed to grow into a future leader and innovator within the MathWorks Technical Sales organisation. This is NOT a traditional engineering role. It’s not application engineering. It’s not sales engineering. It’s a commercial sales career path designed for engineers who want to apply their technical skills in a business context.

Program Overview
  • Begin your journey in Cambridge, UK where you'll gain exposure to our products, customers, and culture as part of the Engineering Development Group. You'll develop your commercial, technical, and leadership skills by providing technical support and collaborating on business activities with our Sales teams.
  • Then, transition into our Inside Sales team and relocate to Galway, Ireland, working with customers across EMEA to help them find the right MathWorks solutions, increase the adoption of our tools, and help drive both customer success and business growth.

Responsibilities

As a member of the EDG to Technical Sales program, you will join a diverse and collaborative team, contributing to sales activities and providing technical support to customers. You will engage with customers across industries, gaining customer perspective and a deeper understanding of MathWorks products.

More specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate with commercial and technical teams to identify and solve our customers' technical and business challenges, developing a deeper understanding of our products and their uses.
  • Effectively turn qualified leads into opportunities and prospects into happy customers.
  • Grow your leadership skills by demonstrating initiative, leading process improvement projects, coaching and mentoring others.
  • Benefit from extensive learning opportunities through training, mentorship, and knowledge sharing forums.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Strong interest in commercial activities including sales and account management, with prior experience a plus.
  • Programming skills in MATLAB.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills.
  • After building a strong foundation in EDG in Cambridge, UK (typically 12-18 months), you will be required to relocate to Galway, Ireland to join the Inside Sales team.
