Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy based in London is looking for an experienced Technical Officer to support their Highways team. The role involves delivering technical work across asset management and construction projects, with responsibilities such as preparing technical responses, supporting contract management, and analyzing data. Candidates should have a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and several years of relevant experience. This role offers a hybrid work model with a contract duration of 3-6 months.

  • Support NEC4 contract management and liaise with suppliers.

  • Assist with the delivery of construction and maintenance projects.
  • Respond to FOIs and general information requests.
  • Coordinate with other teams to ensure smooth delivery of projects and programmes.

Technical Officer – Highways

Location: London (Hybrid) | Contract: 3-6 months | Rate: £250/day (Inside IR35) | Start Date: ASAP

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Officer to support the Highways team. This role involves delivering technical and data‑driven work across asset management and construction projects. You will report directly to the Head of Highways and work closely with a range of internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare technical responses, reports, and correspondence for senior officers and Members
  • Support NEC4 contract management and liaise with suppliers
  • Analyse highways and asset data to inform decision‑making
  • Assist with the delivery of construction and maintenance projects
  • Respond to FOIs and general information requests
  • Coordinate with other teams to ensure smooth delivery of projects and programmes
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Several years of experience in highways, construction, or asset management
  • Knowledge of NEC4 contracts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills
