The role
- Set, start, monitor, and remove mould tools from injection moulding machines producing plastic building products whilst working to Wavin BS and ISO standards.
- Ensure that tools are set to achieve the production plan requirements.
- Undertake minor tool repairs (water, hydraulic & switch repairs).
- Manage own work area consumables and proactively approach for availability.
- Report damaged consumables to the Moulding Team Leader for replacements.
- Complete Mould Care tasks as per SOP requirements.
- Use overhead crane & forklift truck to transport and move tooling.
- Enter and maintain all relevant information for shop‑floor data collection and as required to meet QC standards.
- Be proficient at, or able to use and understand, the shop‑floor data collection system.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Chippenham improvement plans.
- Report exceptions to the Moulding Team Leader.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policy and procedures and that all work is undertaken to the appropriate standards.
- Raise and address safety concerns as required.
- Complete autonomous maintenance tasks as per schedules.
- Complete behavioural & safety audits as per plan.
- Ensure a minimum of one peer‑to‑peer audit per month.
- Support the Moulding Team to deliver required shift outputs.
The profile
- General secondary education.
- Desirable – recognised mechanical engineering qualification to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Experience of tooling & injection moulding processes.
- Practical experience of the tool‑setting & moulding process.
- Practical experience of medium‑batch production process.
- Experience with Stork & Engel moulding machines beneficial.
- Experience with automation equipment (packing & handling) including robots capping and stacking.
- Certificate and proficiency in lifting, craning and slinging operations.
- Must be able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable work ethic.
- Must be able to work positively within a team and form good working relationships with other team members.
- Must be able to plan, manage and organise activities of self, to achieve balance of proactive and reactive tasks.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
