Job summary

A leading UK machinery operation is seeking a Machine Technician to maintain and operate bespoke machines in a production environment. Responsibilities include quality control, equipment maintenance, and support in continual improvement processes. Job description
Machine Technician / Technical Operator

As a Machine Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating bespoke machines within a production environment. Your role involves hands‑on technical duties, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting the continuous improvement of production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate bespoke machines within the production line.
  • Perform quality control checks on production outputs.
  • Conduct technical cleaning of equipment.
  • Repair and refurbish machine components.
  • Maintain and organize tools and toolboxes so all required tools are available when needed.
  • Keep the production workshop clean and in good condition.
  • Execute preventative and reactive maintenance on automated production lines.
  • Uphold high standards of Health & Safety practices.
  • Communicate effectively with external software support to resolve machine‑related issues.
  • Drive productivity improvements and share best practices with other shifts.
  • Train and mentor other team members as needed.
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • Mechanical and electrical skills; electrical/mechanical experience is advantageous.
  • Pneumatic maintenance experience.
  • Analytical aptitude and basic computer skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Ability to read diagrams, technical drawings, and manuals.

Location & Reporting

Location: Humber (preferably) but flexible within the UK. Reports to: Head of SAP & Enterprise Applications, IT Solutions Delivery.
