Overview

The role is for an experienced Mechanical Technical Director in the London office, focusing on the Data Centre sector within the Mission Critical Facilities team. The successful candidate will lead technically challenging projects for hyperscale, colocation providers, end users, and enterprise clients.

A little more about your role: as a Mechanical Technical Director in the Data Centre sector, you will design and implement cutting-edge solutions to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data centre operations. You will lead a team of engineers, drive strategic initiatives, collaborate with industry leaders, optimise energy consumption, enhance security protocols, and integrate emerging technologies. This role offers the opportunity to build a robust professional network and drive transformative change in a dynamic industry.

Responsibilities
  • Be an integral part of the team''s day-to-day management, vision, values and leadership. Develop team spirit and cooperation.
  • Develop client relationships and brand within the UK and EMEA.
  • Meet monthly and annual budgets at a team level; support with MEP budget planning and seek ways to improve performance.
  • Work with the director and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives in the team and across the wider business.
  • Share knowledge and technical skills with colleagues from around the globe.
  • Drive profitable and sustainable work-winning and maintain up-to-date forecasting for the team and input to the wider MEP service delivery.
  • Oversee team performance including work pipeline, finance, and operational management.
  • Collaborate with clients, developers, contractors and architects to secure WSP''s position as the engineer of choice and be the client''s key point of contact.
  • Contribute to day-to-day management, uphold team values, develop team spirit and cooperation.
  • Provide excellent client care and explore opportunities to develop additional business for the team.
  • Develop client relationships to promote new commissions.
  • Collaborate with the Building Services team in London (mechanical, electrical, public health, ICT, Controls, E&S, Smart) and contribute to a culture of excellence and integrity.
