Qualifications

Job description

MotorSport Vision (MSV) is looking for a skilled Technical Buyer with a strong automotive background, ideally within motorsport, to support an exciting range of high-performance vehicle projects across the group. Based at Bedford Autodrome, home to PalmerSport, GB3 and GB4 Championships, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, value and reliability of components used in our racing and premium driving events.

Working closely with the Engineering teams, you will manage procurement from our established supplier network whilst also identifying and developing new sources for specialist materials and engineered parts. This is a varied and evolving role, offering the opportunity to contribute to both R&D initiatives and full-scale production as new projects progress.

Duties of a Technical Buyer at MotorSport Vision
  • Purchase goods, materials, components and subcontract engineering services to meet parts cost, quality and delivery targets across the MSV racing project portfolio
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders and order / delivery schedules to support internal and external demand for vehicle parts
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times and contractual details with new suppliers
  • Create and maintain bills-of-materials for assemblies and manufacturing in sync with an overall parts inventory system to ensure prompt delivery to end users
  • Provide analysis on costs, cost reduction opportunities, and inventory management
  • Monitor both existing and new supplier performance and make commercial decisions as required
  • Prepare reports and updates to senior management as and when required
  • Manage and build supplier relationships and keep up good communications both internally and externally
Requirements of the role
  • Prior buying / procurement knowledge is essential
  • MS Office is essential
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive parts is essential, ideally those associated with single seater racing cars, sports racing cars and high-performance road cars
  • Previous experience with mainstream manufacturing software or ERP systems is essential
  • CIPS qualification desirable
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication and surface finishing is desirable
  • Experience in procurement of composite parts would be desirable
  • Work as an integral part of the finance team to efficiently manage day-to-day commercial targets

The Technical Buyer position at MotorSport Vision will be based full time at Bedford Autodrome. Core working hours are 42.5 hours Monday to Friday, but hours are ultimately driven by business needs. Due to the location of Bedford Autodrome and to carry out the full range of duties the role requires, a full UK driving licence is essential for the position.
