The successful candidate will produce high-quality documentation using S1000D and Simplified Technical English, collaborating closely with engineers and project leads. Applicants should have over 5 years of experience in aerospace documentation, proficiency with tools like Arbortext Editor and Adobe FrameMaker, and a degree in a related field. This role follows a hybrid model with 3 days onsite per week, offering a competitive salary of £40k annually.

Job description

Model: Hybrid (3 Days Onsite p/w)

Scope: Fully Employed

Salary: £40k per Anum

Location: Stevenage

Responsibilities
  • Plan, research, and produce high‑quality technical documentation with a focus on S1000D‑structured content and material written in Simplified Technical English (STE)
  • Work closely with engineers, project leads, and subject matter experts to collect, verify, and clarify detailed technical information
  • Convert engineering details into clear, accurate, and user‑oriented documentation for operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel
  • Oversee version control and documentation updates throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with engineering changes and releases
  • 5+ years working experience producing aerospace documentation using S1000D and Simplified Technical English (STE) for content such as Illustrated Parts Data (IPD) and other related modules
  • Experience with Document Management Systems and robust version‑control practices
  • BSc or HNC/HND in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related discipline - an advantage
  • English - Mother Tongue
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard authoring tools such as Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker
  • Prior experience documenting Ground Based Air Defence systems - an advantage
