Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking an experienced Technical Assistant in Birmingham. This hands-on role involves supporting the Technical Manager and collaborating with suppliers to ensure compliance with BRC standards. The ideal candidate will have strong HACCP knowledge and experience in internal auditing, alongside exceptional communication and organizational skills. This position requires someone proactive and confident when liaising with both customers and suppliers. Competitive salary ranging from £30,000 to £35,000 is offered.

Qualifications

Job description

We are partnered with a valued client in the search for an experienced Technical Assistant. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, this role is a key part of the technical function, providing essential support across the team and acting as a crucial link between the business, its customers, and its suppliers.

This is a hands‑on position with a strong external focus. You will work closely with suppliers to build and maintain relationships, ensure compliance, and support ongoing quality standards. You will also play an active role in customer communication and audit readiness, making this an ideal role for someone confident, proactive, and technically strong.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Technical Manager and wider technical team in the delivery of all technical and quality activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for both customers and suppliers, maintaining strong, professional relationships.
  • Lead supplier relationship management in collaboration with the technical team.
  • Support supplier compliance, ensuring documentation and standards are consistently met.
  • Take an active role in internal and external audits on site.
  • Support and participate in supplier visits when required.
  • Ensure all work meets BRC and site‑specific technical standards.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working to BRC standards is essential.
  • Strong HACCP knowledge (qualification preferred).
  • Proven experience in internal auditing.
  • Strong technical understanding and experience within a similar environment.
  • Forward‑thinking, proactive, and confident when liaising with customers and suppliers.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
