Team Leader - Young People

£15,710 - £17,928 for 21 hours per week

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role where you are able to empower people every day to develop their skills and achieve their potential? Do you enjoy working in an environment where every day is different to the next? Then this could be the role for you.

You will be working with our care experienced young people between the ages of 18-25. You will support young people in their own accommodation and provide support, so that they feel more valued and secure, and ready to take the next steps.

For part of this role, you will assess readiness for living independently. You’ll provide support in developing their skills and confidence to live independently and transfer the young person to a permanent tenancy. This will include promoting healthy relationships with families, partners, peers etc, accessing hobbies and extra-curricular activities as well as managing finances and budgeting.

You will work with and manage 1 Support Worker.

Your positive attitude towards your work and your team will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.

Responsibilities
  • Attend relevant meetings regarding clients or with stakeholders/commissioners, where required
  • Reports and data will need to be run and provided where required
  • Ensure staff are supporting clients to address all issues i.e, substance use, mental health or debt and including improving practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, health & hygiene
  • Work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community
  • Help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to users of the premises, the organisation and property
  • Carry out quality checks on client records to ensure organisational standards are upheld
  • You will work flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given
  • You will be part of the on–call service
Essential Criteria
  • Previous experience in this type of work is not essential, but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with young people. Your values will match ours; you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.
  • Clear verbal and written English and great communication skills
  • Basic IT and keyboard skills
  • Polite, assertive manner
  • Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
  • Have an interest and genuine concern for young people and related issues
  • Experience of working in a residential or institutional or similar
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies
  • Due to the nature of the role, you will need to have a full driving licence and have access to a care for work purposes.
