Teaching Assistant (SEMH/Autism)

Fixed term contract until 10th July 2026

Term time only (39 weeks, Monday to Friday) – including a two week half term in October

Actual Salary: £20,421.22 (£23,809.50 FTE)

Responsibilities

You will work with pupils who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs including SEMH needs. The successful candidate will be able to establish positive relationships with our pupils and use a range of strategies to promote engagement to learning. Our Teaching Assistants support pupils in all lessons including Cooking, Forest School, PE, Art, Life Skills and more!

Working as part of a highly trained and therapeutic staff team, you will influence the lives of children who have a range of needs, life experiences and personalities that make every day varied and interesting. You will acquire an understanding of our wide range of therapeutic and evidence‑based strategies including sensory integration, speech and language and trauma‑informed practice.

Resilience is a key trait for all our staff – being able to bounce back from experiences and being creative with pupil interactions is a key part of this role.

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year’s experience working within a school or education. Candidates should have an awareness and understanding of how pupils with SEMH needs learn and the level of support they require at school.

Working Hours

Term time only. Monday - Thursday 8:15am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:15am - 3:15pm. The successful candidate will join the school working term time only for 5 days per week.
