Overview

Teaching Assistant for Children with Mental Health Needs – Stroud, Gloucestershire. Immediate Start.

About the role

Academics are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, trauma and behavioural difficulties at a specialist school in Stroud. Graduates qualified in Psychology or Counselling are excellent fits, but other relevant experience in mental health support or working with children will be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive 1:1 and small group support to promote wellbeing and foster personal development.
  • Create and implement tailored individual behaviour plans.
  • Support SEN students aged 5 to 16 who have experienced complex developmental trauma and heightened emotional needs and behavioural challenges.
  • Be flexible and ready to embrace new challenges to support pupils with complex needs.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Level 3+ qualifications required; a Degree would be preferred.
  • Well suited for graduates in Psychology or Counselling.
  • Prior experience with children with mental health needs is advantageous.
