Teaching Assistant Behaviour Specialist
Location: Primary Alternative Provision North & West Leeds Area
Start Date: January (Temporary to Permanent)
Contract: Temp to perm
Pay: £12.07 £14.43 per hour (AWR compliant)

We are recruiting a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. This role will involve supporting pupils either 1:1 or in small groups, helping them to regulate, engage positively with learning, and reintegrate successfully within an educational setting. Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience supporting SEMH needs or challenging behaviour in a primary setting
  • Strong behaviour management, resilience and de-escalation skills
  • Confident working 1:1 and leading small-group activities
  • A reflective, child-centred approach and good communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply

Desirable:

  • Level 2/3 TA qualification or equivalent
  • Team Teach / MAPA / Trauma-informed training
  • Experience working within alternative or behaviour provision
