This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and / or permanency.

Derby DHS is seeking a dedicated and skilled Intervention Teacher to join our team. This role is ideal for a primary‑trained educator with strong literacy and numeracy expertise, who is comfortable working across various year levels and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs. The position is crucial in reinforcing foundational skills throughout the school.
The successful applicant should deliver structured intervention programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum standards, using diagnostic and formative assessments to tailor instruction and track student progress. They should provide targeted support for students to build confidence and mastery in essential skills, helping prepare them for successful post‑school pathways.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of literacy and numeracy development and experience or willingness to deliver the MultiLit program. Experience working in remote or regional education settings is highly valued. The ideal applicant should have effective communication and collaboration skills to work alongside classroom teachers and support staff, ensuring consistent and culturally responsive teaching practices.
A commitment to building positive relationships with students, supporting their wellbeing and engagement through strengths‑based teaching, and bringing flexibility, initiative, and problem‑solving skills to the role is key.
Teachers and school administrators employed at Derby District High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary ARI payment of $4 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
