Why is this role important?

The Tax & Share Incentives team is recognised in Chambers and Legal 500 and consists of nine specialists, including two partners. Based primarily in Birmingham and Nottingham, the team supports colleagues across all UK offices and acts for a broad range of clients, from individuals to multinational corporates and large public sector bodies.

What does the role involve?

As a Senior Associate (4+ PQE), you will take a lead role in delivering high-quality advice and managing complex matters across:

  • Corporate tax, including legal support on share and asset sales and purchases.
  • Employee share incentives and employment tax, including drafting and technical advice.
  • Real estate tax issues, including SDLT and VAT.
  • Advice on other tax matters such as stamp duty.
  • Managing your own caseload and supervising junior team members.
  • Assisting partners on complex transactions and strategic advice.
  • Delivering exceptional client service and contributing to business development initiatives.
Technical Skills Required
  • Strong legal drafting and research skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and commercially relevant advice.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HMRC guidance and legislation.
  • Desirable: experience with tax covenants and warranties, employee share incentives (including EMI), SDLT, VAT, CGT, and corporation tax.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with case management systems.
