Job description

We are looking for analytical engineers to deliver the MBDA Hardware In The Loop mission statement: "To provide operational confidence through world-class, closed loop missile performance testing."

Salary: Up to £55,000, depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity:

The HWIL team provides dynamic missile firing simulations using real hardware in support of product development, missile performance validation, and de-risking firing trials.

You will work within a state-of-the-art national facility, utilising target generation and flight motion equipment to simulate real-world missile scenarios, including in-flight performance, target detection, acquisition, and homing.

Your role may vary weekly, focusing on integrating, maintaining, and running complex simulations to provide critical data for product development.

What you will be doing:

  • Understanding missile sub-systems involved in dynamic testing
  • Understanding interactions between missile sub-systems and bespoke test equipment
  • Interacting with stakeholders across MBDA
  • Developing real-time simulations using performance models
  • Conducting experiments with missile hardware and software
  • Analyzing missile performance and reporting findings

What we're looking for:

Ideal HWIL engineers have broad engineering experience, with knowledge in some (not necessarily all) of the following areas:

  • System integration & interface debugging
  • Structured problem solving
  • Software/simulation design
  • Sensor or subsystem testing
  • System performance analysis
