As Pool Operations Manager, you’ll ensure safe, high‑quality pool operations while also delivering some swim instruction—supporting other swimming teachers and life guards, maintaining standards, and helping more children become confident, capable swimmers.

The Role…

Swim:ED's recent success and growth provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to join the LSC team. As Swim:ED Pool Operations Manager, you will be responsible for pool operations and maintenance across your region.

You will oversee our pool plant operations, water management, and back‑end operational set‑up, ensuring the programme is delivered to the highest standards.

You will be responsible for leading and managing a small team of swimming teachers and life guards. The role also includes 2 days of swimming teaching across our 2 pools, with the aim to be out of delivery by September 2026 when we will be operating 3 pools.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the continuous development of the Swim:ED programme, ensuring high standards are met by all Swim staff and developing appropriate training for effective management of Swim:ED facilities.

What you will be doing …
Maintenance and Pool Plant Management:
  • Oversee all pool facilities' daily operations and maintenance to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Manage water quality and treatment processes, ensuring compliance with PWTAG guidelines and HSE regulations.
  • Handle any facility‑related issues promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks of pool plant equipment and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimise downtime and ensure equipment longevity.
Operational Set‑up and Back‑End Management:
  • Coordinate the set‑up and operational management of new swimming facilities.
  • Ensure that all operational systems and processes are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Lead on communications with Temporary Modular Structure (TMS) suppliers.
Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct regular quality checks of operations, ensuring adherence to Swim:ED standards for facility operation, maintenance activities, and water quality.
  • Support teachers and life guards at their sites around your region, including support builds and QA visits.
  • Develop and implement a system for continuous monitoring and improvement of performance.
  • Monitor and review microbiological testing records.
Training and Development:
  • Design, organise and deliver training on pool plant operations, water management, and facility maintenance.
  • Ensure team members are adequately trained in health and safety procedures and best practices in pool management.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure all documentation is up‑to‑date and complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports that showcase Swim:ED operational achievements.
  • Implement and develop the Pool Technical Operating Procedure in line with the PWTAG Code of Practice.
Leadership & Management
  • Leading & Managing the Swim:Ed team.
  • Arranging cover for absence.
  • Liaising with partner schools to ensure a best‑in‑class service.
Teaching & Delivery
  • Planning and delivering swimming lessons using a variety of techniques to engage and educate children.
  • Helping children to develop their swimming ability and reach their full potential through consistent support.
  • Teaching water safety skills to children in a fun and inclusive way, ensuring that they understand the importance of staying safe in and around water.
  • Using high‑quality equipment and following safety standards to ensure lessons are a safe and enjoyable swimming experience.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive environment where children feel comfortable and confident to learn.
  • Providing regular feedback and evaluations to children and teachers to track progress/celebrate achievements.
