Role Overview:
This role covers the OCS Group in the UK & Ireland, reporting to the ESG Director (UK & Ireland). The Sustainability Manager has primary responsibility for leading environmental reporting, compliance, training and engagement. The role will require significant engagement with stakeholders internally (e.g. Operations, Sales, HR, Communications teams) and externally (e.g. regulators and consultants) to ensure sustainability management is best in class.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:Functional
- Manage and maintain OCS UK&I’s environmental management system - certified to ISO 14001
- Manage the compliance of environmental regulations such as EPR, ESOS and SECR
- Support operational teams with management and implementation of the Environmental Management System, accredited to ISO 14001, ensuring that there is continual improvement and management of risk across all activities and sites.
- Lead the annual external verification of sustainability data
- Ensure robust environmental data is captured across our business and can be integrated into OCS UK&I and Group reporting.
- Maintain and track current (and future) legislation to ensure legal compliance
- Support operations to ensure they fulfil ESG related commitments such as carbon impact assessments and related plans/initiatives/reports
- Assist with the delivery of various ESG related reports, presentations and dashboards for OCS UK&I and customers.
- Support bid teams when required – presentations and bid review/solutioning
- Develop sustainability plans such as waste and food waste minimization plans
- Produce and organize sustainability related training and material for OCS colleagues (Including webinars, toolbox talks, e-learning)
- Monitor and analyse issues of non-compliance or environmental incidents reported across the business - Support operational teams when necessary

- Exercise independent judgment, reasonable care, skill and diligence when carrying out their duties.
- Act in good faith and promote the long-term success of each company within the UK & Ireland group for the benefit of all members and wider stakeholders.
- Adhere to and promote the UK & Ireland group’s policies on equality & diversity, information security, health and safety and data protection in the performance of their duties and the management of the departmental function reporting into them.
- Support and promote the UK & Ireland group’s sustainability plans and policies, including the Carbon Management Plan, and carry out duties in a resource effective way, recognizing the shared responsibility of minimizing negative environmental impacts wherever possible.
Qualifications & Skills:
Necessary
- Significant experience in sustainability or environmental management (ISO 14001)
- Proven experience in packaging and waste compliance (e.g. EPR)
- Extensive knowledge in Carbon/emissions accounting
Desirable
- Experience of external audit/verification of sustainability and environmental data
- Familiarity or experience in waste management
- Qualifications/training in sustainability or related areas
- UK driver’s license
- Proficiency inMicrosoft Office, especiallyExcelfor data analysis and reporting
