A caring support organization is seeking dedicated individuals to assist a young girl with disabilities in Nursling, Southampton. The role includes personal care, supporting daily activities, and facilitating therapies. Candidates should have experience with children with disabilities, effective communication skills, and a warm, compassionate demeanor. Competitive pay rates available for weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays, along with thorough training and support.
Location: Nursling, Southampton
Days & Hours: Permanent hours: morning support for Monday-Friday 7.30am-9.30am. Bank Hours: weekends, school holidays and absences of the current team. Occasional 2:1 care on Tuesdays 3pm-6pm to assist with hydrotherapy.
Typical term time bank shifts: Monday-Friday - 7.30am–9.30am, Afternoons 2.45pm-7.45pm, Saturdays 4-6 hours (e.g. 10am-4pm), occasional Friday or Saturday evening (e.g. 6.30pm-11pm) to allow parents an evening out, and school holiday hours as below.
School holidays: Full days, Monday-Friday between 8.00am-6.00pm (if Bara accesses a holiday club, she may still need transporting and 1:1 support). Saturdays as required.
Pay: £15.98 per hour Monday to Friday, £18.11 per hour Weekends, £31.96 per hour Bank Holidays.
Driver required? Essential – own car to deliver Bara and transport to training. Business insurance required and mileage paid.
Driving Client's Car? Yes, long‑term our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV). Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, on duty and to attend training.
Essential Experience: Experience working with children with disabilities, personal care and record keeping. Desirable: Experience supporting clients in their own homes, interest in therapy.
Accommodation (while on duty): 3‑bedroom family home.

Bara is a delightful and engaging girl born in 2018 who lives with her parents and younger sister. She enjoys visiting the park, having books read to her, colouring, nursery rhymes and painting. Bara attends a local special school directly opposite her new house in Nursling.
Bara sustained a neurological injury at birth resulting in cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and developmental delay. She is non‑weight bearing, requires hoisting for all transfers, uses a specialist buggy outdoors and is a power wheelchair user; she requires specialist support to maintain posture. Bara is doubly incontinent but is able to communicate when she needs toileting. She is making good progress with her verbal language and is supported by a team of therapists.
Your role will be to assist Bara with her personal care needs, support her with eating/drinking, transfers between home equipment, play and participation in home‑based activities and therapies after school. The role may also include taking her on trips out, supporting her to attend clubs, activities and hydrotherapy, and to be available on occasional evenings (to provide babysitting for both children) to allow the parents some respite.

£15.98 per hour Monday to Friday; £18.11 per hour Weekends; £31.96 per hour Bank Holidays. On‑going training & support provided. 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata. Pension (subject to qualifying status). Free DBS check.
