Job description
Job Advert

We are looking to recruit passionate Support Worker to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in Worksop and the surrounding areas.

Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives?

As a Support Worker flexibility is key as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts. You should have the ability to work flexibly across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays and shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleep‑ins and waking nights. Your flexibility is therefore essential for us to be able to meet the needs of the people we support.

The role of a Support Worker can be challenging at times, so it is essential to have a positive mind‑set with a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. You will need to be quick‑thinking and have a positive can‑do attitude.

What does a Support Worker do?
  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.

A driving licence is essential for this role. Unfortunately, we will not be able to proceed with candidates who do not have a driving licence.

All our services are 24‑hour care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!

Days: Between 07:00-22:00

There is also a non‑contractual sleep‑in available where you will receive an enhanced flat‑rate payment of £63.70.

Please note: This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route, as set by the Home Office. Therefore, although Mencap is a licensed sponsor, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as we are not able to support new visa applications or sponsorship requests for this vacancy.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.

Benefits
  • 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro‑rata for part‑time) + a variety of benefits including pension and holiday buying options.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills.
  • A supportive and inclusive work environment where your contributions are valued.

*Please note that terms and conditions apply based on your contract.
